A Poem for Children

ACROBATS

Acrobats in the trees;
Swaying with summer’s breeze.

Always running up or down;
Far above the ground.
Nuts and berries, your delight;
Watching you, such a sight.

You come and go as you please
From limb to limb with great ease.
Leafy treetops are your home,
A canopy of green in which you roam.

From branch to branch you quickly run,
Climbing upward toward the sun.
Your heavenly maker placed you there;
Making you jump through the air.

A pleasurable sight for each of us
Earth bound creatures made of dust.
Wishing we could climb as high
As you above, so near the sky.

Acrobats in the trees;
Swaying with summer’s breeze.
